Dear Environmental School families,
I am writing to share an update on the construction progress of the Eric Langton Elementary Replacement project.
The construction crew has nearly completed the excavation work required to prepare the site for the foundation of the new building. They are now excavating to lay out underground utilities and services, including sewer, water, electrical, and data lines.
At the same time, the crew has been putting up concrete shear walls that provide seismic restraint and will limit building movement during earthquakes. All shear walls should be in place by mid-January, and at that time, structural steel work will begin. The steel superstructure, pictured below, will connect to the shear walls and provide support for the floors, walls, and roof.
