Hello Environmental School families,
I am writing to share an update on the construction progress of the Eric Langton Elementary Replacement project.
Construction on the new school continues to move forward, with several key milestones reached over the winter months. Yellowridge Construction has now completed the concrete placement for the building’s walls, columns, and main floor. Since January, steel columns, beams, and metal decking have been installed, and the steel superstructure is expected to be largely complete by the end of April.
In March, installation began on the steel studs for both interior and exterior walls. This framing allows plumbers and electricians to begin the “rough-in” stage of their work. The current focus is to complete the roof by the end of May.
In the meantime, off-site civil work along Edge Street and 121st Avenue is scheduled for completion in summer 2025.
Timeline Update
While the new school was originally scheduled to open in January 2026, the updated timeline now anticipates construction will be complete and school will be ready for occupancy by June 2026.
