Registration Environmental School Project

The Environmental School is a choice “school” based on place-based, imaginative and ecological education. It is not regular “schooling”. Learning activities do not happen in a “regular” school or classroom setting. Learning activities will occur throughout Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows in different settings and environments. Learners could be at a park setting for a long period before moving to a different setting. This is a research based “school” where School District 42, the community of Maple Ridge and researchers from the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University will work together to develop learning opportunities, across integrated curriculum and multi-grades, that are in context, experiential, and hands-on, focused on preparing students for a future in a sustainable and ecological world.
